Quick Portrait Sessions

Quick Portrait Sessions

I'm still amazed to see what I can accomplish with tight parameters and inflexible limitations. I've really grown to embrace self imposed restraints, I'll routinely, for no real reason, give myself tasks to accomplish with really strict and sometimes rigged parameters, and that's usually when I do my best work.

It comes to down to making it happen, not making excuses, being resourceful and taking advantage of what's available and not obsessing about what's missing.

About this set of photos, and the parameters of my creativity...

This might be one of my favorite portrait sessions from 2019, for the fact that the scenario wasn't typical for a portrait session.

  • One camera with a fixed 23mm lens with a maximum aperture of f/2

  • No external flash

  • Dimly light space, with no opportunity for brightening the space

  • Roughly 10 minutes to create a well balanced set of photos.

We used two locations in the office to create this set of photos, but these are a few from the session that I really like the most. My first priority as a photographer is to establish the composition and these photos, IMO, are well composed, highlighting her as well as her space.

Peace!
