The Student Show

The idea of being an “Art Student” is interesting from the perspective that art is often an expression of the lessons we’re learning through our journey in life. So, from that vantage point being an “Art Student” can be seen as a lifestyle choice driven by purpose and self discovery .
I’m surrounded by artists in every aspect of my life, from literal Art Directors and Copy Writers, to Cinematographers, Clothing Designers, Bakers, Chefs and every other creative practice in between. I’m truly appreciative of my creative community, both personally and professionally, but I’d be lying if I didn’t acknowledge that professional art is somewhat sullied by money.
I cherish the moments when I’m able to experience art that was created for the sole purpose of expression. The Student Show at the Housatonic Museum of Art gives me that experience, the exhibit they curate displays work from some of the school’s brightest creative minds.
Art is a transcendent language, it has the capacity to reach people in ways we aren’t able to through conversation. The artwork featured in this exhibit speaks very loudly about the perspectives, feelings, and intentions of the artists.
As always it was a great night at the Housatonic Museum of Art when they have an exhibit opening. I encourage everyone who reads to check them out, as well as your own local museums.
Support your local artists.
Peace!

It’s impolite to say someone is the next “So & So”, because they’re the first and only them. Appreciate artists for who they are, not for who they remind you of — be encouraging not condescending.
