Whiskey Noir

It’s ironic that in my last post I spoke about not letting a week go by without posting a set of photos, welp, the Flu had other plans for me this month.

I’ve kicked the flu, dusted off the camera and hit the streets to create a monochromatic set of photos.

Over the past few months I’ve been diving deep into art history, familiarizing myself with the artists that have come before me, primarily photographers. As a result of my studies I feel challenged to create work that is more timeless and reflective of my environment, that’s something I’ve always strived to do, but there’s a greater importance now that I’m beginning to understand the impact my work has on those who view it.

Additionally, I’ve been really selective about when I press my shutter button, it’s important for me to have a reason to make an exposure. Occasionally I’ll treat my digital camera as if it’s a film camera, I’ll tell myself that I have only one roll to use while I’m out for the day. This set of photos was created while in that frame of mind. I went out for 2 hours and made about 36 photos — these are my selects.

Peace.
