Unseen, Unpublished Black History

Unseen, Unpublished Black History

Unseen is a collection of photographs and journalist field notes about African-American culture and history from The New York Times.

As the title suggests, these stories and photographs, were never published or seen until this book was released.

When I read the field notes from the journalist and reflect on the images, I often wonder about the impact this work would have had on the people during that time. No doubt that these stories would have offered an in-depth perspective to the experiences of African Americans during that time.

No spoilers, but there's a great story about a professional boxer who was seen as the "bad guy" of his time and a pre-match training session for the press, that unpublished article could have changed the narrative of his persona and the trajectory of his career

This collection of inspiring photographs and stories really motivates me to do a better job at telling the stories of my community. I really encourage everyone to grab a copy, and dive into the stories.

Peace.
