At Least I Tried…

At Least I Tried…

Growth only really happens when we expose ourselves to new opportunities outside of our comfort zone, or area of expertise.

I’ve always loathed the idea of a “Growth Mindset”, but nature people have a growth mindset, but we sometimes slip into a system of complacency - which has its own basket of issues. My point is that I’m embracing “Growth Action”, just doing the things that will undoubtedly put me in a position to learn, adapt, and grow — with the purpose of bettering myself across a few different areas in my life.

One of those areas is leaning into the notion that I’m an artist that people like to see work from on a consistent basis, and standing next to my work to receive/embrace all that comes with it.

While this collection of images doesn’t look any different from what you’re accustomed to seeing from me, because it’s not any different, I can definitely share the intent was different. When I met up with Daniel, my intent was to create a video, using the iPhone 15 Pro — The content was captured, but the audio was subpar and unusable.

I learned many lessons about videography on this day, I’d love to share them with you:

  • Don’t rely on the microphones in your phone or camera, especially if you’re outside or in spaces you can’t control.

  • Repeatedly check your focus

  • Have an outline for the story you’re trying to tell - Will save you hours in post production

  • Framing and composition matter — ALL THE TIME!

I’ve always had the luxury and pleasure to work with talented videographers, and being responsible for checking those elements was definitely something new for me.

There will be properly recorded videos coming to this blog soon, so stay tuned!

Peace!
