Summer Fun

Summer Fun

Carnivals and fireworks are genuine staples of a great summer.

Children give you the opportunity to relive some of the coolest memories from our own childhood, like carnivals, ridiculously large ice sundaes and fireworks.

My wife and I have spent the last few summers taking my son to the various carnivals around our state, and this year will be no exception. This was our first event of the season, and to my surprise it was filled with all of the classic carnival rides and signage. (Most are just food truck festivals disguised as carnivals.)

Separately, I challenged myself to work with a new set of creative parameters from this summer — I do this to keep things interesting.

The New Parameters:

This summer I’ll be working exclusively in the 16x9 aspect ratio, with a 20% Cinebloom filter attached to my lens. I’ll be using my X100F for a majority of my personal work, and I’ll have that camera set to only use the optical viewfinder — I love those framelines.

I hope you enjoy these photos, Peace!
