Kodak Gold 200
Earlier this year I created a set of photos using my Nikon N80 with a roll of Kodak Gold 200.
These photos were created as a “B Side” collection of images while I was working on a project for a friend.
During the pandemic I got really deep into film photography, falling back in love with the process and creative constraints that come with film. So when the opportunity presented itself to work with Jasmine and Daniel on this project I jumped at the chance to use my film camera as my “B camera”.
It took me a few months to process the film, I was in the middle of a move and renovation when this project happened and I temporarily misplaced the roll of film. When I found the roll of film I was really anxious to see how the images came out, and I was excited to study the photos to learn from this experience. Film, in my opinion, is very definitive, you only have what’s on the negative and that’s it.
Overall, I'm really happy with the film stock, Kodak Gold 200 is definitely a film that I'll use again. I love the texture, the tones and the warmth of the image. Seeing these images really challenge my opinion about Portra 160 and 400.
Moving forward, I will definitely be creating more sets of photos using film.
I hope you enjoyed the photos.
Peace!
