Native American History & Art

Art will always be the best way to tell stories of our journey through life, it’s an amazing way of communicating what we’ve done and where we’ve been.

Last night I had the opportunity to hear from Manon Gaudet on the top of Native American Tourist Art, as part of a speaker series from the Housatonic Museum of Art. There was so much to takeaway from that experience, as well as a great deal of information to unpack, but what I can say is that the indigenous people of North America really understood supply and demand, and how to capitalize on an emerging market.

This event was very unique in that we were able to sit up close to the artifacts, and truly discuss the complex nature of these pieces. As someone who loves history it was a night that will definitely rank high in my 2023, even though the year is still just getting started.

Lastly, this was the first of session of a 3 part series by the Housatonic Museum of Art, please check them out for info on the upcoming events.

This is also a great reminded for anyone who reads to tap into the various community groups and sub-groups to take advantage of what a city or town has to offer.

Peace!
